Builder, Remodeler and Associate of the Year

Builder, Remodeler and Associate of the Year

Each year, one builder, one remodeler and one associate member of BATC-Housing First Minnesota earns these most prestigious awards, which recognize engagement, trade partner satisfaction and community service. Builder and Remodeler of the Year also includes customer satisfaction.

All who enter are encouraged to attend the Building Industry Gala (BIG) Night in October at Mystic Lake Center. You'll be able to accept your award alongside all of our other big winners, in front of the entire BATC-Housing First Minnesota membership.

NEW: 2019 Adjustments have been made to the components below. The weight of the Association Engagement decreased, and all other components increased. Points awarded for Board of Director or Committee Chair involvement have been removed in 2019.

  • Association Engagement (25% Builder & Remodeler / 33.33% Associate)
  • Trade Partner Evaluation (25% Builder & Remodeler / 33.33% Associate)
  • Customer Evaluation (25% Builder & Remodeler / NA Associate)
  • Community Service (12.5% Builder & Remodeler / 16.67% Associate)

  • 1 event - 100 points
  • 2 events - 200 points
  • 3 events - 300 points

Employee(s) served on a Committee or Task Force in the past year - 300pts (50% of Association Engagement)

  • Yes or No

2. Trade Partner Evaluation – 600 Points Possible

Trade Partners have opportunity to share why they believe a nominee should win the award and rate the nominee on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest.  10 Trade Partner Evaluations are allowed.  Up to three evaluations may be from Advocate members, the remaining evaluations must be from full members.

HELPFUL TIP:
It is in your best interest to get as many evaluations completed as possibly by partners you feel would evaluate you as highly as possible.  The number of completed surveys may exceed the number of evaluations allowed. We will use the first 10 unique trade partner member company scores.  Only one evaluation allowed per company per nominee.

If for example your company had 20 member scores received, the first 10 will be counted.  If two scores were received by two different representatives from the same member company, the first score from that company would be used and the 2nd one discarded.  If that is the case, then the next applicable evaluation would be used in tallying the total.

Nominees will be supplied with a list of current BATC-Housing First Minnesota members. If an evaluating company is not a BATC-Housing First Minnesota member, their evaluation will be discarded, and the next applicable evaluation would be used.

Ethics - 100 Points Maximum
In the course of establishing an optimum business relationship, it should be acknowledged that the most productive professional business alliances have been those that were founded on a strong ethical base. Ethical business standards consist of some basic, but absolutely necessary, elements to which businesses in today’s society subscribe and adhere.

  • Mutual Benefit: Ethics are a philosophy of moral conduct that dictates certain actions in the business environment. They include the concept of mutual benefits: a contract or business obligation should be in the best interest of both parties
  • Openness: This condition is manifested through openness: representation of all the known facts, positive and negative, plus accurate statements as to other aspects
  • Integrity: commitments should always be transferred into a corresponding action that is in total accord with mutual agreements
  • Ethical Consideration: Finally, and of significant importance to an ethical business relationship, is the acceptance of the concept, that in the human condition, there are irrefutable principles of right and wrong. True success in work place is measured in how effective we are adhering to the “right” principles of conduct. Ethical Consideration is not an obligation, but a tenet that is carried out willing and in the spirit

Consideration - 100 Points Maximum
Any business relationship is a two-way street. While the old adage states “the customer is always right,” there are facts in any relationship which determine its success and can ultimately affect the satisfaction and success of the parties involved. Please base your response on the following:
